About our Project

The Story of Project Color Again
Sitting in a popular restaurant one sunny afternoon, siblings Nathan, age 13, and Madelyn, age 7, were enjoying the puzzles and activities on the provided kids menu with the accompanied box of crayons. As a nearby table was being cleared, they took notice of something very surprising. They became acutely aware, and quite concerned, that restaurants everywhere were throwing away perfectly usable crayons. “That’s a waste to throw all those away!” they lamented. “And it’s bad for the environment! We should do something!”
“What do you propose we do about it?” their mother asked, hoping to get their brains and hearts working on a solution.
Nathan and Madelyn thought for a minute. “We should have them collect them for us!” Nathan replied. “We could make them a box to keep in the back where everyone can toss the used crayons instead of throwing them in the trash!”
“And what will we do with them?” their mother questioned.
“We could send them to Africa!” Madelyn exclaimed.
Two weeks awaiting corporate approval and three phone calls later, Nathan and Madelyn collected their first batch of "recycled" crayons from that very restaurant. 1,653 of them to be exact. Their next pickup, just ten days later, yielded an even bigger amount. In the first month alone, they collected over 5,800 crayons for kids in need...from just one restaurant.
